37+1 weeks gone...I'm getting slightly concerned because the head hasn't engaged yet, and everyone I've spoken to said that it should have by now. Nor have I had any BH contractions, although I know not everyone has these. I just have a feeling that I'm perhaps not as far on as everyone thinks...



But I'm sure the baby itself is fine, it's moving about as much as ever, and it's 'head down' so I'm getting plenty rib kicks! Gav had his head on bump the other night, and it kicked him so hard in the temple he nearly got concussion! He's quite proud actually, as it shows it's going to take after him :-)

So. First parentcraft class was tonight. I learned...sod all, really. I'm guessing that the first class is meant just to be an introduction - at least I hope so; what exactly are we meant to do with the information that having a baby is like going on holiday for x reasons? I'm being flippant. I'm sure next week's class wil be more useful as it's about labour and delivery. At least we get a tour of the labour ward so we'll know where the hell to go when I'm leaking scary amounts of fluid and wanting to excavate my uterus...

30 days till my due date. Fair to say I can't wait! People think I'm weird because I'm not actually scared of the giving birth part...pain has never really bothered me all that much and I'm mentally prepared for anything which might happen - caesarean, episiotomy, other unpleasant things which I can't spell...what I'm perhaps not prepared for is what comes AFTER - the being a mum part. THAT'S the bit I'm cacking it about. But I'm sure things will be fine - it's not like I'm totally ditsy and will leave the baby in a shop or something!

Week 35 - the baby is shifting to the 'head down' position and is beginning to get damn heavy! Gav's really sweet, he fell asleep with his hand on the bump and a big smile on his face last night, and gets embarrassed whenever I tease him about getting soppy over baby.



The midwife's doing a home visit on Aug 1st to discuss the birth plan and stuff - we have to cover over the snakes and scorpions as she's terrified of them! Got my first parentcraft class on the 22nd, apparently we should have started them a couple of weeks ago but nobody informed us of that, so we may not make all 4 of them. Still, better late than never!



On maternity leave now, cant believe I don't need to go to work again until March 15 2010! Seems so far away but I'm betting I'll be longing to get back before that :-)



Started packing my hospital bag today, but I think I'm going to need separate ones for me and baby as there's so much stuff they say to take.
